Rome, Georgia--Pirelli Tire North America Inc. has started operating its fourth module at its Rome factory to use the firm´s Modular Integrated Robotised System, bringing the annual production capacity at the site to 350,000 tyres.
The new module will make Pirelli´s 26-inch Scorpion Zero line of sport-utility vehicle tyres. The company said the MIRS process is flexible enough to product passenger tyres, too.
The 315/40R26 tyres are aimed, in part, at performance tuners working specifically with the Hummer H2, the firm said.
