Performance Fibers buys Acordis' Diolen polyester operations in the US

Arnhem, Netherlands - Acordis' Diolen US polyester industrial yarn spinning operations in Scottsboro (Alabama) and the converting facilities in Winfield (Alabama) have been sold to Performance Fibers Holdings, Inc.

These polyester yarns and fabrics are used primarily in tyres and mechanical rubber goods.

Diolen said the transaction completes its strategy of divesting overseas activities to concentrate on Europe. Earlier this year Acordis' Diolen Brazilian operations were acquired by the Sabanci Group.

Diolen said it would continue to support the North American market by exports through Diolen Industrial Fibers Europe Inc.
