New Delhi, India -- last week, Sify finance carried a report suggesting that Bridgestone Corp is planning to expand capacity at its tyre factory in Pithampur, Uttar Pradesh, india. The report quoted Hisao Ikawa, Managing Director, Bridgestone India Pvt Ltd saying "There is a plan to take our capacity to 3 million tyres per annum from the current 2.6 million a year,"
Sify quoted Ikawa as saying, "we do definitely have concrete plan."
When ERJ asked Bridgestone for confirmation, the company eventually responded with the following statement, "It is true that we have a plan to expand the production in India. However, we are not in a position to disclose the detailed information such as when and how much we expand."
