Ulrich Weiss steps down from Conti supervisory board
Hanover, Germany -- Dr. Ulrich Weiss (69) is stepping down from the Supervisory Board of Continental AG as of 30 Sept. The company said it was "For reasons of age." Dr. Weiss has been a member of Continental's Supervisory Board since 1990, and chaired it until 1999.
In a statement, Conti said, "The Executive Board and Supervisory Board thank Dr. Weiss for his outstanding service to Continental, especially in crucial phases of the company's history."
His seat is to be filled by Christian Streiff (51), who was until May 2005 chief operating officer of Saint-Gobain, Paris, and member of various supervisory boards.
Continental also announced some changes to the Executive Board. From 30 Sept., Gerhard Lerch (61), chairman of the Executive Board of ContiTech, will join the Executive Board of Continental AG, where he will continue to be responsible for the ContiTech division.
In further action the company renewed for five years the contract of Manfred Wennemer (58), chaiman of the Executive Board and responsible for Conti's passenger car tyre division.
