Cabot's Australian carbon black unit closes on schedule
Melbourne, Australia -- Cabot Corp. has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Cabot Australasia Pty. Ltd., ceased manufacturing operations at its Altona carbon black plant as of October 3, 2005.
The company announced the plan to close the 45 kt/year plant a year ago, following a change in the supply policies of its major feedstock supplier.
Cabot said it remains committed to its Australian and New Zealand customers and will continue to provide service directly and through its Australian distributor Multichem and its New Zealand distributor Polychem.
