OCC doubles capacity for insoluble sulphur
Dharuhera, India -- Oriental Carbon & Chemicals has added a new line for insoluble sulphur at its factory in Dharuhera. The new line adds 5000 kt/year to the company's capacity, bringing total capacity to 10 000 tonnes/year.
A corporate spokesman said the new line came on stream at the end of September and represents an investment of Rs 35 crore (Euro 6.5 million).
The spokesman said the company exports 70 percent of production, to countries including Germany, Spain, Italy and Iran. He added that the company sees a great deal of demand for insoluble sulphur at present, and OCC is running at zero inventory levels.
Insoluble sulphur is used almost exclusively in tyres as the curing agent. OCC makes only insoluble sulphur. On its website, the company said a, "Wide range of grades of Insoluble Sulfur are available including high stability and other special grades. Custom made grades are also available to suit specific needs of tyre companies."
