Asahi Rubber sets up O-ring, roller plant in Guangdong

Tokyo -- Asahi Rubber Inc. has said it intends to create an industrial products unit in Guangdong, China. Dur to come on stream in April 2006, the new unit will make O-rings, rollers, and other industrial rubber products for Asahi's existing Japanese customers who have operations in China.

The company has set up Asahi Rubber (H.K) in Hong Kong to handle sales and manage the factory. Asahi Rubber expects the subsidiary to generate about Euro 725 000 in sales in 2006.

In June 2004, Asahi Rubber set up a liaison office in Shanghai to expand business in China and Asian market.
