Bekaert opens non-steelcord plant in Suzhou
Suzhou, China -- NV Bekaert SA has officially opened a new production unit for advanced materials and coatings in Suzhou (China).
The plant does not make steel cord, but will provide employment for around 70 people in the start-up phase, was built in less than six months and took an investment of 200 million Chinese Yuan (€ 20 million).
Bekaert said the new unit will develop activities in fibre technologies, combustion technologies, industrial coatings and specialised films.
Bekaert makes steelcord in Shanghai and in the provinces of Jiangsu, Liaoning and Shandong and the company employs 2 000 people throughout China.
