Pirelli claims Breuberg is biggest tyre-making plant in Germany
Breuberg, Germany -- Pirelli is saying that its MIRS tyre factory in Breuberg is the most productive of all the tyre factories in Germany. The company says it expects to make 10 million high-performance tyres at the plant in 2005, taking it ahead of any other tyre plant in the country. In a statement, Pirelli said, "With 10 million units produced, the plant will become Germany's leading single production site."
ERJ lists Michelin's plant at Bad-Kreuznach as a little larger than the Breuberg unit, but Michelin has not yet clarified the current output from that plant.
Pirelli said, "The Breuberg plant, located outside Frankfurt, is Pirelli's most important industrial facility in Europe, covering an area of 350,000 square metres. Highly automated, implementing the innovative Mirs (Modular Integrated Robotized System) production process, patented and introduced by Pirelli in 2000, the plant focuses on the production of high performance tyres for cars, SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles) and motorcycles, for both the German and European markets."
