Michelin speech in S Carolina causes confusion
Greenville, South Carolina -- A speech by Edouard Michelin to analysts and journalists at Michelin's North American headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina has resulted in confusion among observers.
M Michelin is widely reported to have said that Michelin will invest in more capacity for large, off-road tyres at its factory in Lexington, South Carolina. While not denying the statement, Michelin's press office in Paris said it has absolutely no comment to make on the company's chief executive's comments, and would neither confirm nor deny any statements about investments there, or what M Michelin may or may not have said.
A spokeswoman would only say that Michelin is investing in North America, but declined to say in which segments or identify any factories.
