Goodyear names Wessel a director
Akron, Ohio -- Goodyear has elected Michael Wessel, an attorney with nearly 30 years' experience as a policy and international trade adviser in Washington, to its board of directors.
Wessel has been a senior vice president with the public affairs consulting firm Downey McGrath Group since 1999, and was appointed by Congress to serve as a commissioner of the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission in 2001. He became a fellow of the Economic Policy Institute in 1996.
He served as a staff assistant, legislative director, policy director and general counsel for former Rep. Richard Gephardt (Dem-Missouri). He was an economic and trade policy adviser for Gephardt and later John Kerry in their president campaigns. He also was a senior policy adviser for the Clinton/Gore Transition Office in 1992 and 1993.
Goodyear's board now numbers 11 directors.
