Nylex sells two automotive rubber companies to Huon

Melbourne, Australia -- Consumer plastics manufacturer, Nylex Ltd -- the former BTR operation in Australia -- has announced the sale of three of its four non-core automotive businesses. The three businesses include Empire Rubber, Mills Elastomers and Nylex Frankston. The businesses were sold to Huon Corporation which is a private company.
The proceeds of sale of the combined non-core automotive businesses remains as previously advised, at approximately $30 million.
The division has strong Technology Licences with global companies such as Metzeler Sealing Systems, Trelleborg Automotive. The division has 3 manufacturing sites in Australia and has the ability to design, develop and validate a full range of Automotive Components.
Empire Rubber, of Bendigo, Victoria makes custom compounds and anti-vibration components, as well as the design and development of extruded and moulded rubber components for the automotive industry. The plant has 3 high volume mixers and is one of the largest suppliers of rubber materials (tyre manufacturers excluded) to the Australian Industry.
Mills Elastomers, based in Dandenong, Victoria, is one of Australia's leading custom compounders. Mills also specialises in injection moulding of rubber materials. The company produces high quality, precision parts ranging from convoluted grommets and engine mounts to a variety of sealing gaskets and ignition boots for industry in both thermosets and thermoplastic elastomers.
