Michelin recalling 6500 Pilot Sport tyres in North America
Greenville, South Carolina )--Michelin North America Inc. is recalling about 6500 Michelin Pilot Sport tyres in the US and Canada because of possible blisters on the sidewalls.
Michelin said it notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Transport Canada of the recall, which applies to size 255/35ZR20 97Y Extra Load. The problem is ordinarily noticeable as a blister on the sidewall that could produce vibration in the tyre. That might result in a rapid loss of air pressure, which could lead to a loss of control and possible crash, the tyre maker said.
No injuries have been reported in North America as a result of the problem, Michelin said. Most of the recalled tyres were distributed in the US with only about 400 distributed in Canada.
The recalled tyres were original equipment on some trims of the Jaguar XJ8 and in the replacement market. They were made at Michelin's plant in Cataroux, France. Michelin will replace all affected tyres
