Detroit, Michigan -- Ford Motor Co. will announce its long-awaited North American restructuring plan on Monday, 23 Jan. Dubbed the "Way Forward" plan, it is expected to include several plant closings and thousands of job cuts.
CEO Bill Ford in September tapped rising star Mark Fields to craft that turnaround plan. Ford lost $1400 million in North America before taxes during the first nine months of 2005.
The Jan. 23 announcement will start with the release of Ford's fourth-quarter and full-year 2005 financial results. Details of the Way Forward plan and a 2006 business review will follow, Ford said on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
