Malaysia's NR output dropped 2.4% in 12 months to November
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian production of natural rubber (NR) in November 2005 was 79 360 tonnes, a drop of 23 585 tonnes or 22.8 percent compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, production also decreased by 2.4 percent. The smallholding sector contributed 94.4 percent of total production while the estate sector, the remaining 5.6 percent. For the period January - November 2005, cumulative production amounted to 1.04 million tonnes.
Exports for the one-month period dropped by 24.8 percent compared with October 2005, but were 2.5 percent up on Nov. 2004. In the 11 months to November, exports of natural rubber was mainly to People's Republic of China (348 855 tonnes), Germany (119 329 tonnes), South Korea (68 480 tonnes), US (63 159 tonnes), France (41 684 tonnes), Iran (34 128 tonnes) and Brazil (29 335 tonnes). Total exports to these seven countries accounted for 68.7 percent of the overall NR exports.
Imports of NR in November 2005amounted to 37,461 tonnes, almost identical with October, but 10.3 percent up on a year earlier. In the 11 months to November, Thailand dominated imports, with74.0 percent of NR imports coming from the Kingdom.
