Kumho investigating site for tyre factory in Vietnam
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - A spokesman for Kumho Tires has confirmed that the company has plans to build a tyre factory in Vietnam, but could not confirm reports in the local press that the deal has been signed.
The Vietnamese paper Thanh Nien News said, "The Republic of Korea's Kumho Group plans to build a US$100 million automobile tyre plant in Ho Chi Minh, a top city official said Friday." and quoted Nguyen Huu Tin, deputy chairman of the People's Committee saying, " the city had approved the project in principle and suggested a 30 hectare site in Cu Chi District."
The Kumho spokesman said "It is true that we plan to have a new factory in Vietnam," but added that the paper was not official information from the Kumho company. He expected to get clarification next week.
