London-New UK association the British Rubber and Polyurethane Producers Association has appointed Steve Stone as its director.
The group also said in a recent announcement that it now has 26 companies committed to joining, and is in discussions with another 25 companies who have expressed interest in becoming members.
Stone, who has recently retired from the board of Avon Rubber plc, will "help grow membership and develop the services which BRPPA is able to offer its members," said Richard Gogerty, chairman of the group, and managing director of Icon Polymer Group.
Gogerty described Stone as having "a wealth of technical and business expertise… [he is] a well-known personality within the industry, both in the UK and abroad. "
According to the BRPPA, some 150 UK companies qualify for membership, and joining the group, "will prove to be a major benefit," the BRPPA announcement said.
The BRPPA appointed representatives of six major players in the UK rubber sector to its board at its first general meeting last November.
