Michelin says XZE2 tyres deliver twice the mileage of competing brand
Stoke-on-Trent, UK - Michelin UK has issued a press release saying that its XZE2 tyres fitted to a fleet of midibuses (Mercedes Plaxton Beaver, with around 30 seats each) delivered twice the mileage of Bridgestone tyres fitted to similar vehicles.
Michelin said a Scottish bus fleet, Kirkcowan-based Kings Coach Hire has completed a trial using a set of Michelin and Bridgestone tyres on two similar vehicles operating on virtually identical local bus routes. It added, the Michelin 17.5-inch XZE2 tyres were fitted to a 31-seat midibuses in March 2005, with the tyre performance on both buses closely monitored. The Bridgestone tyres were replaced after 48 000 km while the Michelin tyres covered 89,000 km with 4mm of tread remaining. The tyres are expected to clock-up at least 100 000 km.
James King, Proprietor of Kings Coach said The exceptional performance of the Michelin tyres far outweighs the cost difference, and this is reflected in our tyre purchasing policy which will in future see Michelin tyres gradually introduced onto all 10 midibuses in our fleet.â€
