Goodyear's latest Eagle tyre uses carbon fibre
Nashville, Tennessee - Goodyear has launched the latest version of its Eagle high performance tyre that includes a number of significant new developments.
The tyre features carbon fibre-reinforced sidewalls for extra strength in cornering as well as para-aramid shock absorbers for a quiet ride. The tyre sidewalls are also in a new compound labelled "PermaBlack" which is claimed to prevent the brown appearance of older tyres formed as anti-degradents migrate to the surface of the rubber vulcanisate over time.
Production will start in March on 24 H- and V-rated sizes, with another five Z-rated sizes coming in September and October, company officials said. Shipments of the tyres should begin in May, and Goodyear will host training and dealer ride-and-drive events in April and May.
Goodyear began taking orders for the tyres today.
Additionally, the company will run television ads for the tyres beginning in May. The ads focus on the carbon fibre technology, asking consumers, "Are you getting enough fibre?"
