CIL gets environmental standard ISO14001 at Preston
Preston, UK-Chemical Innovations Ltd (CIL) has gained accreditation to the International Environmental Management Standard ISO 14001: 2004.
The speciality chemical manufacturer said it has been manufacturing at its Walton Summit. Preston site for over 25 years. The company's product range including polyurethane elastomer systems, mould-release agents, rubber-to-metal bonding agents and puncture-proofing systems for industrial vehicle tyres.
CIL said it is committed to minimising the effects of its activities on the environment, and has been working towards ISO 14001 certification for two years. It has set up its own environmental management system, for managing, monitoring, auditing and continuous improvement of the company's environmental performance.
"As a chemical manufacturer we are acutely aware of our need to minimise the impact we have on our environment, our neighbours and employees," said Peter Astles, CIL's managing director, in a 2 March statement. This is in evidence in the company's commitment to water-based products-a long-term project-Astles continued, adding that the certificate "gives us the foundation to continue the good progress we have made in recent years."
