Malaysian NR up in Jan, but down year-on-year
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian production of natural rubber (NR) in January 2006 was 104 552 tonnes, an increase of 7350 tonnes or 7.6 percent compared to the previous month. Year-on-year, production declined by 11.4 percent. The smallholding sector contributed 93.7 percent of total production while the estate sector, the remaining 6.3 percent.
Exports declined in the 12-month period, as did domestic consumption, stocks and employees. Productivity was up 2.7 percent on the compariable period a year ago.
