Bridgestone, Pirelli claim top marks in ADAC summer tyre tests
London - Both Pirelli and Bridgestone have issued press releases claiming top spot in the German motoring club's annual summer tyre tests. ADAC carried out tests on two tyre sizes: 225/45 R17 W/Y and 185/60 R14 H. In both cases, only two tyres were awarded the top "specially recommended (" Besonders Empfehlenswert") rating and in both categories, these were Bridgestone and Pirelli.
In the smaller tyres ADAC rated the Pirelli P6 and Bridgestone Touranza ER300 as specially recommended. Another ten tyres were "recommended" (or " Empfehlenswert"). The BFGoodrich Profiler 2 was "not recommended (" Nicht Empfehlenswert").
For larger, sportier tyres, ADAC rated Bridgestone's Potenza RE050A and Pirelli's Pzero Nero in the top category. Another 13 tyres were in lower categories, but no tyres were bad enough for ADAC to specifically tell members not to buy.
ADAC carries out regular tests on tyres and the recommendeations are followed closely by motorists, while many motoring magazines pick up on the test results.
