Denman lays off workers at US tyre plant
Leavittsburg, Ohio - Specialty tyre maker Denman Tire Corp. has laid off 45 to 50 employees at its manufacturing plant in Leavittsburg, Ohio.
A representative of United Steelworkers Local 98, which represents about 250 hourly workers at Denman, said about 50 employees had been laid off earlier this month. A Local 98 Web site said a layoff list of 45 workers was posted March 2.
A Denman spokesman confirmed the layoffs had occurred, but did not release the number, the reasons for the cuts or other details.
Denman makes and sells off-the-road tyres for a variety of industries, including the farming, construction, industrial and mining markets.
