UK truck fleet saves 3 percent on fuel bills with Michelin
Stoke, UK - Michelin UK is reporting that a UK-based truck fleet improved fuel economy by 3 percent after switching to more suitable Michelin tyres.
The trial saw two tractor units fitted with 315/70 R22.5 A2 Energy tyres as original equipment in 2004. These 'A' segment tyres are suitable for commercial vehicles operating on long distance routes and high average speeds. Fuel consumption was measured against identical vehicles in the fleet operating on Michelin's 'E' segment tyres - designed for medium distance operations. The fuel economy carefully monitored for a period of 18 months.
The improvement in fuel economy resulted in an annual saving of over £500 per vehicle,†explains Richard Fry, Director and General Manager of Framptons Transport Services.
