Dow Corning, Wacker to build siloxanes factory in China
Midland, Michigan -- The Chinese joint venture between Dow Corning Corp. and Wacker Chemie AG has received approval from the government to build a siloxanes manufacturing plant in the country.
Dow Corning (Zhiangjiagang) Co. Ltd. -- the name of the joint firm -- will build the plant in Jiangsu Province and has already started land preparation and early construction.
Siloxane is a key starting material for the production of silicones.
Dow Corning and Wacker also established another joint venture to set up a fumed silica plant on the same integrated site.
Under the agreement, Dow Corning will be responsible for the construction and development of the siloxanes unit and Wacker for the fumed silica plant.
