Trelleborg opens sealing plant in China

Stockholm, Sweden - Trelleborg Group has opened a new manufacturing plant in China's Shanghai region for its Sealing Solutions division.

The 10 000-square-metre facility will produce sealing products for the aerospace, chemical processing, semiconductor and oil and gas sectors and employ about 100 people.

''We are committed to expanding aggressively in Asia,'' Trelleborg president and chief executive Peter Nilsson said.

''This facility continues our strategic investment in the region and it will be followed by others in China and in other Asian countries.''

The Swedish company said the opening of the Shanghai plant would allow it to better meet increased demand in China and Asia.

"This [plant] marks another stage in strengthening our position in China," Trelleborg Sealing Solutions president Claus Barsoe said.

"Alongside manufacturing we will provide full service from the Shanghai site.

''This will consist of technical support for design and product development, in conjunction with research and testing, for both local and international customers."
