Handbags made from recycled inner tubes
Richmond, Virginia - A US company is buying up old inner tubes and turning them into womens' handbags. The company, Passchal, says it is experiencing high volume sales and cannot deliver finished products until October
Passchal is owned and operated by ex-welder Ken Kobrick and inventor Angela Greene. They set the company up in 2004 and have since gained increasing exposure in the fashion world.
Passchal uses tubes sourced from truck tyres, and OTR earth mover tyres from Virginia and the surrounding States. The company washes the tubes in an environmentally-friendly solution and then cuts the butyl sheet into patterns to make the bags, which are hand-sewn.
Each bag sells for around $150
