Omya lifts calcium carbonate prices
Atlanta, Georgia -- Omya Inc, the North American arm of Swiss firm Omya AG, will raise the price for its ground calcium carbonate used in industrial markets, including the rubber industry on 1 Oct.
The firm said cost increases for energy, raw materials, packaging and mining necessitated the price hikes.
''This price increase is intended to help recover these costs as well as to support the expansions required to meet our customers' growing needs,'' a company statement said.
The changes vary according to grade and whether the material is packaged or provided in bulk.
Omya's calcium carbonate is used in coatings, adhesives, construction and the plastics markets.
