Michelin´s Chinese plant achieves ISO 14001
Shenyang, China -- Michelin´s tyre plant in Shenyang has achieved ISO 14001 certification with the French firm expecting its tyre and steel cord plants in Shanghai to follow by the end of the year.
ISO 14001 is an international standard based on the continuous improvement of environmental performances issued by international certification organisation Underwriters Laboratories.
Michelin said it had developed a standardised method, Michelin Environmental Management System, to help its plant managers meet the standards.
As an example of improvements, Michelin said the Shenyang plant had reduced its water consumption by 30 percent over the past few months.
