Wacker exhibits liquid silicone products at CIGRE
Munich, Germany - Wacker Chemie AG presented its liquid silicone rubber grades for the manufacture of high and medium voltage insulators at this year's session of CIGRE, the International Council on Large Electric Systems, in Paris.
The German chemical manufacturer said the silicones, marketed under the Powersil XLR brand name, exhibited particularly low viscosities, thereby offering significant processing advantages for complex casting moulds.
“Powersil XLR 630 exhibits such a low viscosity that large-volume or complexly shaped insulators can easily be produced via casting,†the company said in a statement.
“Even at low pressures, the silicone completely fills the mould.â€
The 2006 CIGRE session was held between 27 Aug and 1 Sep.
