Lanxess invests €15 m into chloroprene rubber production expansion
Leverkusen, Germany - Chemical maker Lanxess has invested €15 million into boosting production of chloroprene rubber (CR) at its plant in Dormagen, Germany, and plans to expand production further in the future.
The German firm said the project is aimed at optimising processing and safety and is in response to the changing global market environment.
Lanxess expects the expansion to be finished by the end of the year.
"The investments will enable us to continue reliably serving our customers from the CR processing industry in the future," Ingo Fischer, head of CR global product management at Lanxess's technical rubber products business unit, said.
"In addition we are in close contact with the authorities to prepare for additional expansion."
The company said it will aim to further increase the capacity and was confident of obtaining a new permit from the authorities, if the project runs smoothly.
CR is used in technical rubber goods, adhesive raw materials and latex applications.
