ExxonMobil Chemical to build new elastomer plant in Baton Rouge
Houston, Texas -- ExxonMobil Chemical will build a new facility at its Baton Rouge, Louisiana, complex to produce its Santoprene thermoplastic elastomers, compounded polypropylene and other specialty elastomers.
The chemical manufacturing arm of the US oil giant ExxonMobil Corp. plans to start construction on the new facility in October and expects to start production in the second quarter of 2007.
“The investment is part of the company's global compounding strategy and commitment to provide engineered thermoplastic materials to the automotive and consumer products industries,†ExxonMobil Chemical said in a statement.
