Michelin experiment finds its A2 Energy truck tyres more fuel efficient
Stoke-on-Trent, UK - Almost 30 litres of fuel were saved by using Michelin's A2 Energy truck tyres on a 1250 kilometre route, according to an experiment undertaken by the French tyre giant.
Two identical Volvo trucks, with the same amount of fuel and the same load, made the journey between Michelin's research centre in Clermont-Ferrand, France, and the International Truck Show in Hanover, Germany.
One truck was fitted with Michelin E2+ tyres, the other with Michelin A2 Energy low rolling resistance tyres and the tyres were switched at the halfway point on the Franco-German border.
After arriving in Hanover, it was judged that the truck with the A2 Energy tyres used 28.69 litres less fuel.
When ERJ asked Michelin what percentage the saving was compared to the total fuel tank capacity of the trucks, a spokesman said Volvo would not release that information.
