Michelin and Dynamic settle case over Chinese "copycat" tyres
Greenville, South Carolina -- Dynamic Tire Corp. has agreed to stop distributing certain Chinese-made tyres as part of a settlement with Michelin's North American arm in a patent infringement case.
Michelin said it dropped its actions in US and Canada while Dynamic -- now part of GPX International Tire Corp. -- will no longer distribute Aeolus HN305, Aeolus HN308, Aeolus HN328, Aeolus HN329, Triangle 696 and Triangle 689 tyre brands.
Dynamic also removed some content from its Web site, Michelin said.
Michelin sued Dynamic in April 2005, claiming Dynamic was distributing what Michelin said were Chinese-made "copycat versions" of its own tyres.
The French tyre maker also said Dynamic has dropped its libel suits -- filed in Canada against media outlets including Crain publication Tire Business -- over its reporting of the Michelin action.
Michelin did not disclose the financial settlement.
