Smith steps down from Conti UK
London - Brian Smith, managing director of Conti's UK subsidiary, Continental Tyre Group Ltd, is to step down at the end of December. His successor will be named in due course.
Smith has had 13 years at the helm of Conti's UK operations and turnover has doubled since 1993 (CAGR: 6 percent), to £250 million (€372 million), while profits are now at record levels.
Smith has been involved with the UK tyre and rubber industry in many capacities, including chair of the BRMA, BTMA, TIC and TIF.
After 36 years in the tyre industry, SMith will now become chief executive at the HF Holidays Ltd
He explains “My career in the motor industry and particularly, the tyre industry, has been both enjoyable and rewarding. But, I now feel the time is right to embark on a fresh challenge. I'm leaving behind a great team of people who I know will enable Continental to continue its growth and considerable achievements.â€
