Sinopec's rubber production up 5% in first nine months
Beijing - Production of synthetic rubber at China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec Corp) increased 4.7 percent, to 490 000 tonnes in the first nine months of 2006, up from 468 000 in the same period of 2005.
The data is hidden in Sinopec's results statement for the nine months to 30 Sept, 2006.
Sinopec has nominal capacity for 195 kt/year of emulsion-polymerised SBR at three factories: Sinopec Qilu Petrochemical Co., Ltd.; Sinopec Beijing Yanhua Petrochemical Co., Ltd. and Sinopec Shanghai Gaoqiao Company, but this is not fully utilised.
The company also makes polybutadiene rubber at the same three factories. Although nominal capacity is just 220 kt/year, Sinopec claims to have made 280 kt of high-cis BR in 2005
