Lanxess continues to generate more cash in Q3
Leverkusen, Germany - Lanxess AG continues with its strong recovery in the three months to September 2006. Despite a small decline in sales, the company turned a net loss into profit, reporting net income of €36 million compared with a loss of € 57 million in the same period a year ago. The company also increased capital expenditure and reported a 16-percent boost in pre-tax, pre-exceptionsl profitability.
In the rubber sector, Lanxess said sales increased by 8.7 percent, to €450 million, but it managed to pass on all the increases in raw materials costs through higher selling prices. Pre tax (EBITDA) earnings jumped 36 percent to €39 million, giving a margin of 8.6 percent on sales. but pre-exceptionals, the margin was 11.8 percent, said the company.
