Bridgestone revises fundamental mid-term strategy
ITokyo - Bridgestone Corp has re-issued its notes on the corporation's fundamental mid-term strategy. The company states in the very first sentence, "The goal of Bridgestone is to establish the status of being the undisputed no. 1 tire and rubber company both in name and reality."
The key targets are to aim for a consolidated return on assets of 6 percent annually over the long term, with an interim target of 5 percent up to 2011 and above 5 percent after 2011.
The company aims to do this by becoming more global, instead of a Japanese company with international outposts; focussing on high added-value products and a greater awareness of environmental issues. Bridgestone also aims to have a flatter, more responsive management structure.
