Conti to raise tyre prices in Europe, Canada
Charlotte, North Carolina -- Continental Tire Canada Inc. will raise prices up to 8 percent on passenger and light truck tyres in the replacement market, effective 1 Jan.
Continental said the price increase, which applies to Continental, General and associate brand tyres, is due to the continued rise in transportation and other operational expenses.
The price increase will vary by marketing line and size, the tyre maker said.
Additionally, Conti told the AFX newswire, prices in Europe are expected to rise before the end of the year. Although oil and rubber prices have fallen in recent months, the company said it still has not recovered all the raw material price increases it experienced earlier in the year.
Overall, said Conti, the company has seen raw materials prices higher by €300 million this year
