UK tyre industry introduces 'TyreSafe' brand
London - The UK's tyre industry has introduced a new brand called 'TyreSafe' which is designed to aggressively communicate tyre safety messages associated with 24 separate issues affecting the tyre industry in the country. The organisation's main message is, "look after your tyres and your tyres will look after you".
TyreSafe is a brand of the country's declining Tyre Industry Council, but it is funded directly by tyre companies and tyre retailers, rather than by the various tyre-related industry federations in the UK. This means, said a spokesman, that decisions can be made faster, that the money will be more carefully controlled and spent more effectively.
Ultimately, said the spokesman, if the TyreSafe brand proves successful, the TIC may find itself redundant, and could be disbanded.
The new grouping aims to be the first point of contact for all tyre safety related issues and enquiries and a national reference point for all aspects of tyre safety.
Where the TIC tended to be focussed around passenger car tyres, said the spokesman, the new brand will directly address truck tyres, fleet operators, and even issues associated with motorcycle and agricultural tyres.
The new grouping is unrelated to the Scotland-based tyre sealant supplier which also introduced the TyreSafe brand in 1995, and the tyre industry spokesman said the group has legal advice saying it is allowed to use the TyreSafe name and relevant web addresses.
