Per Hermansen dies
Per K Hermansen died on 7 November 2006 at his home near Värnamo, Sweden, after several months of illness. He was 70 years old.
Per spent his whole career in the rubber industry - in Norway, his country of birth, at Sande Fabrikker (now Mehren Rubber), and in Sweden at Värnamo Gummifabrik, Gislaved Gummi, Polysar Skandinaviska and Svensk Rubber. In 1987 he founded his own company Per Hermansen AB.
Per became an early member of the Swedish Rubber Institute, SGF, and had been its Chairman for a number of years at the time of his death. He continued his close association with Norway, being a key member of the Nordic Council of Rubber Technology, which promotes cooperation between Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark.
Per was a Fellow of the Plastics and Rubber Institute (PRI) and promoted the PRI qualifications in the Nordic countries - these became the base for Sweden's own qualifications for rubber technologists.
Per represented Sweden in the International Rubber Conference Organisation (IRCO) and for the past seven years had been the Executive Chairman of the IRCO, using his leadership skills in promoting IRCO conferences throughout the world.
He will be sadly missed in the international rubber community. He leaves his wife, Carina, and four children.
