Malaysia's NR production up slightly in October
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian production of natural rubber for the first ten months amounted to 1.07 million tonnes. In October the country produced 109 900 tonnes, up 2.1 percent on the previous month and up 5.2 percent on the 103 820 produced in October 2005.
During January - October 2006, exports of natural rubber was mainly to People's Republic of China 341,704 tonnes, Federal Republic of Germany 117,447 tonnes, Republic of Korea 55,970 tonnes, U.S.A. 53,127 tonnes, Islamic Republic of Iran 36,328 tonnes and France 32,174 tonnes. Total exports to these six countries accounted for 67.6% of the overall NR exports. In the “other countries†category, Brazil was the largest NR importer, accounting for 2.8%.
tocks of NR held as at the end of October 2006 was 213,634 tonnes, an increase of 3.5% compared to the level of stocks held in September 2006. Year-on-year, stocks also increased by 17.8%.
In terms of prices, the upward trend has been renewed, with latex prices at 430.03 sen, seven percent higher than last month, but at the same level as a year ago. SMR20 is at 665.24 sen, up slightly on last month, but 8.6 percent higher than a year ago
