Report predicts healthy growth for runflat tyres
Amherst, Massachusetts -Â A new report predicts healthy growth for runflat tyres, with volumes rising to 30 million by 2015 from around 7.4 million unts in 2006.
The report, Prospects for Run-Flat Tires, published by Notch Consulting, predicts demand will grow at 17 percent per year. The report notes that average prices for
run-flat tyres fell by 3.2 percent from 2000 through 2006, reflecting a broader product mix and economies of scale as production was scaled up.
Nevertheless, Notch, run by Paul Ita, does not expect runflats to become mainstream. Ita says, "Even given the double-digit growth forecast for run-flats, these products will remain a small volume specialty niche within the larger tyre industry. As of 2006, run-flats accounted for about one-half of one percent of total tyre demand, and about 0.7 percent of passenger tyre demand, which is their core segment. By 2015, run-flats are forecast to account for 1.4 percent of total tyre demand and 2 percent of passenger tyres.
The 122-page report includes 32 tables and 57 charts. it is availabe for either $4000 or $6000, depending on delivery options.
