Oerlikon acquires Saurer
Pfäffikon, Switzerland - At the beginning of January, Oerlikon Corporation AG completed the stock purchase and acquisition of textile- machinery company Saurer AG. Oerlikon is currently implementing the steps for integration of the Saurer Group into the Oerlikon corporate structure.
Saurer Textile says it is the world's leading manufacturer of technologically sophisticated systems for spinning, texturizing, twisting, embroidery and for the manufacturing of Nonwovens. Saurer Textile brings together eight brand names: Allma, Barmag, Melco, Neumag, Saurer Embroidery, Schlafhorst, Volkmann and Zinser.
Simultaneously, Saurer released the highlights of its 2006 market survey into fibre production. The survey concentrates on fabric textiles rather than technical yarns, but notes a substantial increase in the volume of polyester yarns made in China.
