IRSG to move HQ to Singapore
Wembley UK - The International Rubber Study Group (IRSG) headquarters will move to Singapore before the end of June 2008. The IRSG Secretariat will be situated at the Peninsula Plaza, Coleman Street, Singapore.
IRSG Secretary-Generay Hidde Smit said the move was prompted by a need to be closer to the centre of mass of the rubber industry. he added that there are some regulations inthe UK which means employees of International organisations do not get full immunity from UK local laws and these factors, combined with the heavy travel schedul from Europe to Asia means the body will be better served by having its headquarters in Asia.
SMit added that not all IRSG staff will choose to relocate when the organisation moves, so there will be some staff changes associated with the move, but gave no further details.
