Report studies US synthetic rubber business
Dublin, Ireland - A new report claims the US consumed $5000 million-worth of synthetic rubber in 2006. The report, Synthetic Rubber Manufacturing Industry in the U.S. and its Foreign Trade (1996-2008), attempts to track the value of SR consumed in the US over the period.
According to the report summary, "The industry's revenue for the year 2006 was approximately $7020 million. The gross profit was 22.64 percent at $1589 million. There were 169 establishments in this industry that year. Thus, average contribution (or revenue) per establishment annually was $41.5 million.
"The total import export value for the year 2006 was $5270 million. There were 137 countries that conducted foreign trade with the US in 2006, 1 more than year 2005. The top trading countries were: Canada, $943 million (17.90 percent); Japan, $476 million (9.03 percent); China, $444 million (8.42 percent); Mexico, $438 million (8.32 percent); and Belgium, $343 million (6.52 percent). Their combined total represents approximately 50 percent of all imports and exports.
"The total import value for the year 2006 was $1604 million. This represents a 5.4 percent decrease from year 2005. The US had imported industry related merchandises from 67 countries in 2006. The top importing countries were: Japan, $233 million (14.50 percent); Canada, $232 million (14.49 percent); France, $191 million (11.93 percent); Germany, $163 million (10.16 percent); and Mexico, $139 million (8.69 percent). Their combined total represents approximately 60 percent of import from all countries.
"The total export value for the year 2006 was $3,581 million. This represents a 15.1 percent increase from year 2005. The US had exported industry related merchandises to 132 countries in 2006. The top exporting countries were: Canada, $709 million (19.80 percent); China, $378 million(10.55%); Belgium, $316 million (8.83 percent); Mexico, $297 million (8.30 percent); and Japan, $227 million(6.35 percent). Their combined total represents approximately 54 percent of export to all countries.
"Adding the import and subtracting the export, the total U.S. consumption value of this industry for the year was $5044 million."
The 142-page report was prepared by Supplier Relations US, LLC, and was first published in march 2007. it is available for around €910, depending on delivery options.
