Great turtle race: Champiro lies 6th

Galapagos - Champiro, the turtle sponsored by Giti Tires, is lying sixth in the great turtle race, with just a day or two remaining. Champiro is 179 miles from finishing, whereas the leader, Billie is just 71 miles from the finish line.

The Great Turtle Race, tagline "They are going faster than you think" is designed to highlight the plight of the leatherback turtle. The race follows 11 turtles attempting their annual migration from the coast of Costa Rica to the breeding grounds of the Galapagos.
