Teknor Apex plant starting up in China
Suzhou, China - Teknor Apex Co. said it is starting up a facility in Suzhou that will produce thermoplastic elastomer and rigid and flexible vinyl compounds.
The factory's products will be used in the appliance, automotive, building, electronics, medical device, wire and cable and other markets. Singapore Polymer Corp., a Teknor Apex company, announced the start-up at the Chinaplas 2007 conference and trade show.
A new business, Teknor Apex (Suzhou) Advanced Polymer Compounds Co. Pte. Ltd., will operate the facility. The plant will have the capability to make products like those developed in the US by Teknor Apex, in Singapore by SPC, and in the United Kingdom and the US by Chem Polymer, another Teknor Apex company.
The plant so far has two compounding lines with a combined initial nameplate capacity of 14 000 tonnes per year. Additional capacity will come on stream within the next two years, the firm said. Its products are aimed at both domestic and export customers.
