Russian tyre & rubber industry explores regulation of raw materials prices
Moscow - A 4 May meeting of the Russian subcommittee on development of tyre and rubber industry considered whether regulating prices in the petrochemical sector might be possible.
During the meeting the main problems of Russian tyre and rubber industry were discussed including the reduction in the rate of the custom duties on modern equipment and raw materials made outside Russia. The task group members also decided to work out a scheme that would help regulate the seemingly unstoppable rise of raw materials prices.
The sub-committee includes representatives of the leading tyre makers in Russia, including SIBUR - Russian Tyres, Amtel-Vredestein, rubber company TADEM, research institute NIIEMI, International Scientific Technical Concern of the wheel and tyre producers. The sub-committee will meet again on 1 July, said a statement from Igor Karavaev, chairman of the committee.
