Ex-Goodyear exec Pace to head Pirelli Tire North America
Rome, Georgia Pirelli Tyre SpA has named Hugh Pace, formerly president of Goodyear´s Asia Pacific region, to be chairman and CEO of Pirelli Tire North America Inc., effective 4 June.
Pace, 56, will replace Kevin Riddett and will work with Pirelli Tire President Gaetano Mannino.
Pace currently is vice president and managing director of Smithers Rapra Technology in Shropshire, England, a subsidiary of Akron-based Smithers Scientific Services Inc. He has held that position since last June.
Prior to that, Pace was with Goodyear for 30 years, including six years as head of the Asia Pacific business prior to his retirement in October 2004. He also worked at Goodyear operations in Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, Argentina and Mexico during his three decades with Goodyear.
"Mr. Pace's international experience is a major plus for our company´s growth strategies in North America," said Pirelli Tyre CEO Francesco Gori.
Riddett is leaving Pirelli after 10 years "to embark on new professional challenges," the company said.
Smithers Scientific has appointed James Dowey, director of tyre uniformity machinery at Kobelco Stewart Bolling Inc., as Pace´s successor.
